Light Weight Glass Mat Reinforced Thermoplastic

LWRT refers to light weight glass fiber mat reinforced thermoplastic composites, also known as lightweight GMT. When polypropylene (PP) is used as the thermoplastic resin in such material, it is commonly known as PP fiberglass panel.

LWRT is produced by combining long glass fibers and PP fibers into a mat through non-woven needle-punching process. The mat is then cured in an oven and compressed into panels.

This material features light weight, high strength, moisture resistance, low TVOC emissions, and moderate sound absorbtion. The grammage of such material ranges from 250g/m² to 4000g/m², based on different requirements.

LWRT is widely used in automotive interior and some exterior trims, including but not limited to roof liners, package tray, sunroof guards, left/right side trim panels, storage boxes, wheel arch liners, tailgate upper covers, door inner panels, and underbody panels.
