Glass Mat Reinforced Thermoplastics

Glass Mat Reinforced Thermoplastics(GMT) is a composite material produced by heating and impregnating long glass fiber mats with thermoplastic resins such as polypropylene (PP), followed by cooling and compression molding. Depending on application requirements, the typical glass fiber content ranges from 20% to 50%, corresponding to material densities of 1.05–1.4 g/cm³.

GMT exhibits high specific strength and excellent impact resistance in both high- and low-temperature V-notch tests. It is commonly used in automotive structural components such as: off-road vehicle underbody shield, passenger car anti-collision beams, seat frames, battery brackets and so on.

GMT also has a UL94 V0 flame-retardant test grade, making it suitable for partial protection of automotive power batteries.
